The course will enable students to enter the profession of teaching at the primary and middle school levels. The course has been designed by experience practitioners to ensure that those completing the course will be adequately prepared to become novice teachers. Essentially a pre-service programme in teaching, the course will train students in the areas of teaching methodology, curriculum implementation, assessment and student management in primary and middle schools. The final semester of the course will require students to be attached to an experienced teacher in a school and function as a full fledged teacher under guidance, completing their pre-service training. The course will also allow students to examine the new school curriculum under expert guidance.
